History
In 1720, the first settlers in the city were French personals; they named the area “Port La Joye.” During the King Georges War, the British tried to take over the island. At the battle of Port La Joye, the French defeated the British. In the year 1758, the British fleet successfully took over the island and deported all the French settlers. After they done that, they abandoned the area. In 1764, the city was chosen as one of the county court for the Queen Charlotte’s court. In 1764, the city was chosen to be Prince Edward Island capital city. And in 1771, they named the city Charlottetown in favour of the Queen.
Would I Live Here
I would not live here. Charlottetown seems like a great place to live in, though I just can’t live away from my home in Toronto. The pro’s for me are that the cost of living is really cheap compared to Toronto with an average house costing below 150,000 dollars. Also the city has a lot of beautiful scenery and lots of natural space which helps contribute to the large amount of activities they have in the city. And lastly the city is very multicultural and because of this, they have more festivals/events. The con’s for me is that the population is too small for me, I like areas that have a lot of people. Also the city isn’t as urban as Toronto which makes places I want to go to a longer walk/drive. And lastly the weather is to warm, i have allergies that affect me during warm weather and also I prefer cold weather. Overall, Charlottetown is a great city, I would go on vacation here but it is not an ideal place for me to live.
